Anyone been to Dr Nalini Mahajan. Please let me know your opinion on her. Is she better than Dr. Abha MAzumdar and Dr Anup Gupta. Anybody has had Tuberculosis of the Genital / Uterus area...how long does it take to conceive after this. can one conceive while being treated for the TB. I' m undergoing IVF with Dr. Nalini Mahajan in Delhi after a disastrous experience with Dr.FP in Mumbai.

4 weeks ago, I underwent a hysteroscopy prior to my 2nd IVF attempt, during which my doc did endometrial biopsy and sent the sample to the lab for mycobacterium culture test. It came negative for the 1st week and 2nd week, after which doctor did my embryo transfer.

Now, after 4 weeks, suddenly the sample has turned positive for TB. I' m in shock and don' t know how this will effect my chances of embryo implantation, how the treatment of TB will be, etc etc.

I' m still 1 week away from my pregnancy test, hence very, very worried.

It' ll be great if you can share your inputs with me.

I had conceived totally 2 years after starting TB treatment-1 year of anti tb treatment and 1 year of ttc[trying to conceive. I got success on my 3rd trial of IUI after that. I was 26 when I got the diagnosis, 28 when I conceived. I have no idea how one gets this kind of TB but it is common in India. People can get TB of lungs, spine, bones, genital area etc. Why don' t u do some research about it on the net. But most of what u find there is scary stuff.
It would be a good idea to seek a 2nd opinion. Am from B' lore myself. But have heard that Dr Soonawala is a good Gynaec in Mumbai. Have no further info about him.

Forgot to mention that my Dr said it would take a min of 6 mths to cure the TB with medication, after which a test would be done. If the TB levels came down, all was well, else another 3-6 mths of treatment till the levels came down. While on TB treatment, do not miss a singe dose also as that leads to TB medication resistance-a problematic situation Ayesha replied. Hi Paige,
I don' t know anything about Delhi Doctors. However I have had TB of the tubes. It took a year of treatment to get rid of it after which we ttc' d. After 1 more year, I conceived and went on to deliver a healthy baby.
It is not at all adviseable to conceive during anti TB treatment as the medication is too strong and can damage the foetus irrepairably.
So my dear, have faith and patience. Start your treatment. Only when your reports show improvement, u can ttc. If all is well and the TB has been detected in time/not caused too much damage, you can conceive within mths of stopping anti tb treatment.
