Hi,

Iam a working mom of 15 months old son. I keep my son in daycare. Now a days he is not at all eating rice during nights. I asked the daycare lady, she said he is eating in afternoon. I normally give him chikku or some small fruit at 7PM and then rice in between 9 and 9.30. I normally feed him rice with dal and some boiled veggi like carrot or potato and beans. Earlier he used to eat but now a days he is not at all eating rice, but if I feed him raagi, he is taking. I saw many of the messages in this board but couldnt see the solution for this. Please give me suggestion how can I make him to eat rice again. He stopped eating idly also. Iam worried a lot coz he s loosing his weight.

Regards,
Neelima.

Hi, I stay in Ireland but am an Indian and my son is 13 months old. I have a suggestion for your son not gaining weight or loosing weight. you can give him cheese as normally kids like, but not to make it a habit you can include it during the dinner and rice once a day is fine dont worry, at dinner you may give him dal mixed with roti or even cereals. If you havent then try cheese as its a rich source of calcium and even make him gain weight.

hi i 2 am neelima,
well make some changes.like
1)FRUIT AT NIGHT is not advisable...as it is bulky for the baby stomach...then how can you expect him to eat rice in a span of 2 hrs...
2) give him rice once a day..its fine.
3) give him fruit in the afternoon.
4) also give your baby what he likes toi eat..your baby is a picky eater ..dont worry.
5) i suggest you give him cerelac wheat which is quite gentle o his stomach.aslo add wheat germ to that .
6)also give him calore dense foods ..like add amul ghee in upma, idly and to dosa...that ghee will ensure he get his calories.
7) even after this he doesnt put wieght ...consult you ped.
bye
