I have been swaddling my baby since she was born. She is now 16 weeks and still needs to be swaddled real tight. As soon as she manages to get out of it, she starts rubbing her eyes and wakes up. She also gets startled when I don't swaddle her. How do I wean her off? Please can anyone help me?

Hi Olga,

I swaddled my baby till he was 5 months old & he slept very comfortably ... actually in my community its considered more healthy for the abby that he be swaddled as it promotes a feling of being in the womb.

If poss, do it for 3 months then gradually looses the cloth each day till its just a covering?

Hope that helps

Nidhi

Hi ,
I am from India and generally elders do not encourage swaddling beyond a few days since they say it restricts the childs movement and growth. I used to tuck a cylindrical cushion on both sides of the baby's bed and put a cover which tucks under the cushions across the baby's body.Once he's used to that, I started tucking the cover loosely till he was comfortable without the cushions.

Sleep saques are also good option.

best of luck !

Sleep Problem due to itchy skin
My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. Could you please provide me with more ideas that can promote better sleep for her?... - Sanchari Tarafdar [View Message]

RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
