hi all,

Just read the post regarding the preparation of food and sachna has suggested great idea of cleaning vessels with boiling water and dupimg the used food.

I am trying to do some of the things like keeping separate vessel for boilig water for baby, bowl to feed, spoons etc. My MIL is here with us in USA and she doesn' t like some of the things i do , like separate vessel and dumping the leftovers.I don' t want to upset as she has come from so far just to help us out and she is very nice woman. I try to explain her but, she dosen' t listen and tells me \" u can do whtever u want\" and she doesn' t believe in 4 day wait rule
for food. i feel so bad for my baby.

how do u guys handle such situations?

I have been in the same situation since my MIL arrives.I' m a mother of two kids and it' s very hard for me to manage two little infants.Sometimes,my MIL help me out with household chores.I' m very hygienic and if I point out something abt her work she feels bad so I tried to keep mum for a while and let her to continue on with the way the things should be done by her.Later, she realised and cleared out the differences between us and having a happy and pleasant time.

I would suggest you to explain your MIL cooly and hope she will understand.

My mil is here too. I´ ve not started my dd on solids yet ,but Im bracing myself up for all her comments. she´ s all for separate bowls and spoons ,but we have a lot of disagreement on what to feed my baby. I´ ve put enough and more research on baby food and I know what to feed her and when. MIL is from the other generation and does not approve of my food choices. We are going to be butting our heads. But Im the mom and I´ ll decide what or not to do for my baby.I´ ve planned to take her with me to the ped for my dd´ s 6 month visit and get the OK from the ped for the diet plan. I think that´ ll shut her up.
Why don´ t you ask your MIL to talk to the ped ,either in person or on the fone?

Well if you tried to explain it to her and she would not listen, then i would suggest you continue doing what you are suppose to do and she will eventually see, you were right all along...:) Don´ t worry.. everything will be okay...:)

Regarding the 4 day rule. the doctor tells about it also..so explain to you Mil that the doctor recommends that,a dn i think thats the best idea to start out with. Also pinpoint that when we are starting solids, i want to make sure that the baby is not allegric to certain foods. The 4 day rule is good. I usually go for a week just to make sure...and it did help alot...the rules actually helped me find out why my daughter was getting pimples in her face....and at the continous research and giving her foods, it was peach that she was allegric to. ...jus explain it to her,,,and resasure that she has been a big help for you and the baby...

hi
just don' t ask or tell her anything before doing it, i know this is not good but this way you will avoid unneccessary tension, try to explain her pros and cons of things, how the time has changed and things are little bit changed etc..just explain her. this is what i used to do with my MIL i am sure she will understand.

Keep her busy with what she likes like certain cooking which takes more time may be pav bhaji or rotis or Parathas etc and do the rest by your own allow her to go for walk or shopping mall to brouse or stitching etc
