How much time does your teen spend surfing the internet? Do you keep track of your teen' s surfing habits? Is online chatting a good or bad thing?

Subject:  Need for Parents to Monitor

Few parents know what their kids are doing online, let alone check up on it. Many parents believe it’s a violation of privacy. However, there is virtually no privacy online. Internet seems like a forest of fascinating and entertaining information, but there are pedophiles turning corners and making victims out of unsuspecting teenagers.

To let kids know how to avoid them is the best way of gaining their confidence as well as pointing them to the right places to look for information.

Parents have to find the best approach to get through to their child. Merely giving them a set of rules does not work. You need to explain things to them so that they are able to take their own decisions.

Another important point that I must bring to your notice is that parents themselves need to be internet savvy. We cannot just depend on our children to always listen to what we say and do the right thing. As parents, it is necessary that you know exactly what your child is doing.

Subject:  Teens don´ t listen

This article has very valid points but I think you have missed out one thing. Today' s teens simply do not listen. If you talk to them, they think you are preaching and will turn a deaf ear. In such a scenario, how are you supposed to convince your teenager that you are only looking out for his best interests?
