Feeding:irregular bowel and solid introduction

Hi,
My son is 5 and a half months old. I have just started semi-solids for him. but, the prob is that he already has irregular bowel movements. sometimes he skips a day, sometimes twice in a day. generally it' s once a day. So, how can i find the effect(constipation etc) of any food-item introduced to him? any other symptom to identify constipation? Hetal or someone, please help.

its ok....as long as ur son doesnt pass hard stools and hv no prob while passing stool..like crying ..or feeling uncomfi.....many babies hv irregular bowel mvmts.....

its quite normal ...for get prob like consti or loose motion when introduced new diet in babies...
but u should hv waited for 6 months..but its ok now...

following is hetal' s msg...which will def herlp u a lot .if u follow it...
msg number 7287 of feeding board..

another helpful msg is 6452 of feeding board...

u will slowly learn as to what suites ur baby...what he likes or dislike...

Hi gauri,
just read Hetal´ s post, had gone thru it earlier too but didnt remember message number.
anyway, u thought that my baby´ s irregular bowel movements are due to solid introduction. what i meant was that, he already has irregular bowels (even when he was exclusively BFed). now as i want to start with semisolids(after moong water tested), i just need to find a way to detect the effect of newly introduced food-item (as his bowels been irregular, early detection is not possible).
can u help me on this? thanks again.

hey my son is 6months old doctor adviced me to give dall and vegetable so i cooked dall and carrot together and gave him he refused then i added little tomato he refused then i added potato he refused he does not like at all any combination he is too fussy either he spit it out or cry a lot... iam so worried i want to start solid for him i dnot know how to give vegetable and dall together he is also very thin please advice soon wht is the way to make him eat vegetables and dall.. is all the kids cry initially to eat... iam staying alone and i dnot know how to feed him iam confused and worried a lot abt his weight also he is very thin too.....
