Dear all

My son is 9 months old.can anyone tell me how to make idli' s for this small a baby. I have heard that the urad dal used in idli is hard to digest. Is there any replacement for urad dal in idli' s recipe?

also i wuld appreciate if you all could suggest some recipes for my baby' s luncnh and dinner. I am giving him the following things:- ragi, mashed potato, daliya, boiled carrots, apple sauce, roti with moong dal, khichri, bread, boiled bottle gourd, chickoo, bannana. What else can i give him?

I wish to start him on oats, if anyone knows of any good brand do share the info. I am based in b' lore.

thanks

i think potato is more diff to digest than urad dal.....
if she eats potato then she can eat urad dal too...
n qnty u take for idli is 1 part of rice and urad dal will be 1/4th of rice ...it wont make much difference...

for aks...
u can soak chapati in dal ka pani...it taste good....people say u should wait for 1 year to gv chapati but my daughter' s case i started n touchwood it suites her....

hi aks, I would surely try quaker oats for my son. As far as starting roti is concerned, i guess it all depends on ur baby. If he can gulp down a little lumpy ceralac, i guess he can gulp down roti too. I make roti and soak it in dal for about an hour(i use a caserol, that ways it doesnt get cold). For dalia, i take the finer variety, first roast it a little, then use the mixie to grind it partially(one or two turns). After this i soak it in lukewarm water for 30 minutes. Then i put it in the cooker with water and let it cook. After opening the cooker i put in a little milk(one laddle) and sugar and thats it. Its ready to eat. Now for the bread, i am using britania, atta nutri bread or daily bread..whole wheat bread. I m giving him the same as an evening snack not as dinner or lunch.
My son also is a pricky eater...wants a change everytime he eats. Your son would surely like bread. But go slow on it. Best of luck with the hit and trials ahead.
I am putting up in HSR layout ...which doc r u going to.

take care
