Hi,
I've been reading all ur mails in this website.We r planning to go to pune or mumbai for a day or 2.Vr based in hyd, wish 2 adopt a 3+yr old girl child(v hav a 7yr old son).Who will do the home study?How long does it take.?Here in hyd, everything related to adoption is not really happening.V tried a lot but wrong nos,no response,wrong addresses etc.was all v got.Really depressed.KINDLY HELP ASAP. All adoptions have been stopped in AP till further notice. I've mentioned this before- there was some scandal with a minister selling babies to foriegners and NRIs- horrible. Consequences are faced by good parents like you.
The good news is that you can go to another state to adopt. But you'll have to show residential proof- which is not difficult if you have relatives there. Really most agencies are quite sympathetic.
Dont be depressed.I truly understand. But ultimately if there is a baby waiting for you somewhere, she will come home to you.
Also the age group(3 years) that you are looking at- not too many adoptions happen then, so your will happen sooner than if you wanted an infant.
Assuming all goes well, it sould take a maximum of 6 months. States like Maharashtra and Chennai are more organised than the northern states.
Everything related to adoption like homestudy, legal matters are taken care of by the agency.
Why dont you try and contact a adoption lawyer when you are in Mumbai or Pune? Thats another way to go about it.
