Recently I have gone through a message posted here about the admission of a kid in LKG in Bangalore. My daughter is 3 years old. At present we are in UK coming back to India for good in January.My husband will be working in Mumbai.I had to stay in Hyderabad for 3 months in Hyderabad(around kukatpally) with my parents for some reasons. I and my daughter will be moving to mumbai in april. At present my daughter can communicate in English though not fluent very much.In these 3 months I WANT HER TO ADMIT IN A SCHOOL WHERE ONLY ENGLISH IS USED AS A COMMUNICATION LANGUAGE so that she could get passed in the interview for LKG in a nice school in Mumbai. Why I am so much worried is previously when we came to India for a 1 month holiday she started talking in Telugu not in English.We were happy but as we all know Communication is the foremost thing.So I dont want to give her that much gap so that she forgets whatever she knows now. I think she can learn speaking telugu in the time she stays in house. I hope you understand my problem. Can anybody help me immediately?

Sorry for such a long message. Parent replied. Hi Lakshmi, I hope I am not too late in responding to your message. You are unnecessarily worrying. You cannot expect your child to start speaking English when it is not her mother-tongue. Once she gets necessary exposure in school she will automatically learn to speak the language. I have to actually force my children to speak the mother-tongue, they tend to speak only English and I regret for not having insisted on giving importance to the mother-tongue from the beginning. I hope your child is already in school by now.
