Hi friends,

I need your guidance. I am married for three years. Eight months after my marriage I got the laproscopic surgery done for ruptured Appendicytis. I am TTC since last one year. All hormonal test are O.K. HSG was done butit doesn´ t give a clear version of status of fallopian tube(may be because the dr. who did HSG could not carry it out properly. Now I am consulting another Dr. She suggested to go for atleast three cycles of IUI and if it doesn´ t work than she will go for Laproscopic surgery to find out the state of fallopian tubes. One IUI cycle has already been done with no result. Should I try IUI for another time or go for laproscopy. Please suggest.

Hi Gunjan,

I feel that u should go for Laproscopy before doing IUI. IUI is the procedure in which doctor stimulates ovary to mature more eggs. Actual IUI is a treatment uses catheter tube to place washed sperms directly in Uterus. Actual conception takes place in fallopian tube. Egg travels through the fallopian tube and if sperms are there in tube to penetrate ege then only conception happens. So it' s important to be sure if your fallopian tubes are not blocked. Especially if u r going for treatment like IUI.

MY point is, if ur not sure ur fallopian tubes are open it' s of no use of wasting ur time in IUI. You start IUI cycle with great hope. Praying to god, hoping this will be ur cycle and u will conceieve. If it fails it just crush u. I know how it feels.

So I will advise u to go for Laproscopy before going for another IUI. You can take a second opinion. Consult any other gynac.

since she has anyway suggested to go thru 3 IUI cycles and also that she will be performing the laproscopic surgery ,then it will be best to wait for it as per your doctor' s advice. But if you are having second thoughts best would be to consult with the doctor ,since, she will be the best person to give you advice. All the best.

I had septum in the uterus and got removed. Since I had a history of ectopic pregnancies, both my fallopian tubes are tied. Due to the poor ovarian reserve ... - Malini [View Message]
