Hi all,

I have FINALLY found ragi seeds to give to my 9 month son. Please guide me on how to prepare it. How long it has to be soaked, what it should be made in .. etc.

Thanks in advance.

I have started giving ragi for my 8 month old for the past couple of days. I was told this recipe by my cousin and so thought i would share,, however i would also go thru the recipes.thanks for the links

soak a handfull of ragi seeds overnight..its good if u can make sprouts of them...but somehow i noticed that the seeds spoiled whenever i tried making sprouts- may be the weaither.
soak overnight
in the morning run the mixie and you will get whitish milk like liquid.
strain it and to an ounce appr add 5 ounces of water and boil this onthe stove..keep stirring it else it will become lumpish.
stir it till the mixture trns tanslucent and thick starchy..cool it and it will still solidify. add sugar to it. someday i just give it like this..sometimes i add frit puree. my daughter really doesnt enjoy the formula taste..so i dont add milk to it.
hope this helps

Thanks girls for your help.

Suba, why can´ t we use cow milk to prepare the ragi?
I did try - soaked the ragi seeds overnight, and then ran it in the mixer. The quantity was less so it didnt mix well. So i mashed it more with a mortar and then cooked the entire thing in milk and gur.

Is this method ok?
