Feeding:Is Ragi same as Kutu

Hi All,
Just was curious, is Ragi same as Kutu flour. Kutu flour is very much popular in North India, used during fasting days.
Atleast, Ragi looks similar in colour ro Kutu.
Thanks,
Monika

hello monika,
the best option to find out the difference between ragi and kutu flour is you can ask the elder people in your home they only can tell you and clarify you the difference between of them.

Hi Monika,
Ragi is good for health but many people even elder people also constipate that food.So you have to make it some tastier and then feed it to your kid, which is healthy.

i also had faced same problem when i wanted to purchase raagi in US store for nishit.
its a very very old message and dat time i was not saving links etc so i don' t have the link but here is the replies i got from hetal and shyama.i had saved it just for my information as it had all the names of singoda flour and ragi flour.

hetal-\" Singoda flour or kutu atta is made from buckwheat. Buckwheat is actually not wheat so is consumed during \" upvas or fasting time\" .
Buckwheat in telugu as to my knowledge is called \" kuttu\" and kaspat(if you are buying from delhi or extreme north areas or in typical hindi)
sometimes it might be available depending on itz used name even though the name might not belong to region where its sold.raagi and singoda flour looks almost similar, except for the difference in texture and nutrients.avoid or restrict upvas flours to kids under 2years.raagi however is mostly in name of ragee or ragi or raagi or nachni or millet or african millet or fingerr millet or coracan or red millet in most international markets. hope this explains.\"

Shyama - \" if you are talking of fasting days then its singoda flour which is called kutu.i am from hariyana and we get this flour in same name. we use it to make rotis in fasting. i hope you are referring to the same.\"
