Feeding:feeding - a big Challenge (

Not sure how many moms are in the same situation as i am in. For me, feeding my 11 months old daughter is a big challenge.
She just nods her head for anything/everything i offer her. she doesnot open her mouth if she sees a spoon in my hand. First few spoons she welcomes and later she rejects. Not sure if my expectation is more than what a kid can actually take.
So experienced moms pls suggest..
How much raagi can a 11 month old take as break fast? is 1/2 cup more? 1/2 cup would be 3.5 ounces by volume. Is that really more for break fast? how much rice/veggies to offer for lunch?
I see msgs saying 3/4 cup.. But how much in volume? this is really wryying.
pediatrician says kids decide how much to eat.

thanks for ur suggestions. I do the same, distracting her while feeding. She is very smart one (infact all kids in current generation are v smart).. doesnot get distracted with the same toys she used to before day. She loves some news music.. she opens mouth when she sees the news music that comes in all TV channels.. now she stopped opening her mouth.. she njoys with her mouth tight shut...now she is not amused by crow, dog,cat.. which she used to before..
Everyday I almost have tears feeding her.. and at the sametime can' t stop appreciating her smartness.
No one can believe.. I spend 1.5 to 2 hrs just feeding her lunch and same for dinner. Just eagerly waiting for her to grow up soon and eat well on her own.

my baby is 12m and i too have some of these issues. I have got some ideas that i will share with u. as gauri has said, its not that these ideas will always work. Babies have their own moods.
my baby eats when she is distracted. Toys, video CD, or we have a baby swing in the balcony where we make her sit. She watches people, traffic, birds and doesnt realise whats going into the mouth. As she is busy, I dont let her see the spoon, i just put it in her mouth.
I have an older kid 5 yr old who is also a trouble even at this age. He doesnt eat properly so at times i hv to feed him. Or say, between managing two kids some times the baby' s food arrives late. And baby used to get hungry and eat whatever she can eat by herself like biscuit banana apple. Seeing my baby hungry i wd offer her whetever possible till i get free to cook/feed for her and thus she developed habit of eating by herself. Then it so happened that i had to make my elder son ready for school in mornings. I did not hv 1 hr to feed the baby with her tantrums. I would make baby' s favorite - omlete or ghee namak paratha but not give it to her till she asks. When baby really hungry, she eats better. So i wait for that time and let her eat by herself then or feed her if i am free.

i know it must be frustrating for u...but so cute....lol...
all the babies are same...what do u think..that our baby eats whatever we them...no way...they know the taste very well...
even if ur daughter starts eating...she wont eat daily like that ...one day she will eat one day she wont....sometimes..i myself feed her forcefully...
what to do no other option....
but if i when forcefully feed her that time i dont gv her more than 4 tbsps..or else she throws out...
but dont force her everytime..u come to know that she when purposely she is not having food ..n when she is really full...
see as long as she is healthy playing well not crying..or fussy...that means she is fine...she is eating well acc to her apetite...
dont look at other babies n worry about quanttiy...she eats..even i hv passed that phase....
find out what she likes...n that doesnt mean u gv that thing daily....
whenever u sit for lunch or din..take her along with u...gv soemthing to her in a plate...she will def imitate everybody...i started doing this with my daughter since she was 8 month...i use to gv her finger food in plate ...she imitates every1 now...

its not an easy job...

for ragi..in the beginning u gv 1 small vati say 2 oz...in that u put 1/4th tsp ragi..mix it n cook it....

then gradually inc quantity ...n make it thick accordingly....

slowly she will learn .
