Hi,

I am married for two years now...and from past months TTC, but to no vain. We chked with the Gyno (Susheela Shety, B' lore) and she conducted all tests on my hubby and me...everything is +ve...we have not done the dye / laproscopy test as yet....coz we wanted to give some more quality time to this process before going for that...My Gyno has finally suggested me folic acid for 3 months..I am taking the pills almost everyday for the pat 45-60 days...can someone shed more light on what and how is this tablet??
Also, any other suggestions are welcome....I want to get preg by mid this year at any cost!!

Cheers,
Monu

Hi.
yes folic acid is also given to people who are TTC.Folic acid, also called folate or folacin, is one of the B vitamins, also known as B9. It is a vital raw material for production of red blood cells, as well as norepinephrine and serotonin (chemical components of the nervous system). Folic acid also helps to synthesize genetic material in every cell of the body and normalize brain function. Taking folic acid before conception reduces the risk of neural-tube defects such as spina bifida.
And as far as your delaying HSG(dye test)is concerned,i dont think its a good idea. You should get it done ASAP,sooner you identify the problem, better it is .I' m suggesting you to speed up the process as i' ve been married for 10 years and no child yet.I delayed the treatments, took things very casually,at times it was work at times other reasons and now i regret every precious month wasted.
Since you seem to be in a hurry, get your HSG done,i hope its normal, but if its not then you need to stat the procedures, which could be a LAPAROSCOPY or IUI depending of what problem gets diagnosed.
Feel free to ask me anything.Take Care.

Hi Monu

As far as i know folic acid are given to woman who are pregnant and who plan to become pregnant...because in the research it was found that it greatly reduces the birth defects( down syndrome, blidness, mental retardness etc)of ur baby.and also helps the uterus to nourish and give ur baby a healthy 9 months journey.I am taking 800mcg of folic acid daily and the only side affect i faced was constipation.but now it got over.so keep taking ur tablet without fail.

Abt HSG(dye)..try for another 3 months and if nothing work out go for hsg or lap bcoz these two test will show u how well ur tubes are.keep in mind that..Tubes are the main catalyst which make the egg to meet their sperm.
Hope i have helped u a bit.Good luck
