Eating Problems:protein for vegetarian toddler

Hi,

My son is 20 months old and on his recent visit to the doc, it was recommended that he needs to boost his protein intake.

My son eats dal and tofu besides dairy now. Is it ok to give him peanut butter or almond butter on a daily basis? Can toddlers digest such heavy food? Can anyone suggest what else i can add to his staple diet? He needs to have atleast 6-8 oz more of protein food everyday...

Thanks
-Radhika

Dont know how far this is a good advise but giving good cereal for breakfast after crushing little bit between hands & soaking it in milk for 3 mins or so. Our daily cereals like honey bunches of oates or cheerios has all required nutrients. So your son will get all protiens with this other than his regular food like chapati, chawal & subzis.
Hope this helps

Hi

Any kind of butter is fattening, even for babies. Cottage cheese, specially homemade flavoured cottage cheese, will provide a good amount of protein. Sprinkle with chaat masala if your kid likes it. But don't ignore his other requirements of calcium, iron and minerals also. So green vegetables are a must too. Cheers!!
