I know this wouldnt be the right place to post this msg., but there are so many expereinced moms here who can help me in my problem... please read and assist me in helping my child.

My kid is 3 year 4 months old. He had nursing caries... and we got his teeth examined a bit late, as the doctor told us that they were just stains.

But now they have become worse. My kid has to undergo the root canal treatment. We took him to a Pedodontist for the first sitting, and my kid cried a lot because of pain. Doc had given him a local anesthesia, but he was scared and could not control it. The doctor has called us for the second sitting and I am trying to explain my kid that its not going to harm at all., but he is too small to understand it all. He is just scared of going to the doc again. PLEASE HELP ME ! HOW SHOULD I CALM HIM DOWN?

the doctor has told us that in case if he does not cooperate, we will have to giev him general anesthesia and do all the RCTs done.

How many kids undergo a Root canal treatment at this age? Has anybody on this board gone through this kind of situation?

I understand how much u r tensed now. First relax, I too had the same problem with my son who is 6 yrs now. It started when he is 4 n the dentist first gave him pediatric pain killers for a week n then started with the RCT.
Every six months we did the dental check-up to see the fillings r intact. When he is 5 he developed one more tooth cavity so again visited the Pediatric dental specialist n this time he can understand the instructions of the doctor n co-operated well for 3 sittings. But we have to do periodic check-ups every six months till his milkteeths fall n the permanant tooth r there.
Don' t worry, give him 2 weeks time n encourage him to brush his teeth twice. Meanwhile tell him \" now we will go to the doctor n show how strong ur teeth is. May be he will apply some white paste on ur teeth so that it will be strong always n won' t pain\" . Kids r sure to catch our soothing words n definitely co-operate.
Hope this helps. sandhya replied. hello Radhika, I feel very sorry for little kid to undergo such pain. i could understand how u much depressed u are in this stage. But please help other mothers to find know how it started and how to find it out. I know it is rude to ask in such situation, but ur explanation will create an awareness among mothers.

My kids gums are very dark, and she doesnt eat anything without sugar. i am praying to god from starting to save her from things that is caused due to using sugar. But after reading ur msg i am under a bit frightened and shock. please reply.

Sp replied. Poor baby.I am feeling very sorry for your li' l one . Have you consulted other doctors also before taking such a step. Afterall your baby is just 3 yrs old.

Can you share with me how it started and when did it come to your notice?I want to be carefull abt my baby too.
