i hope i can get some good friends here..i am trying to conceive for last one year..when i went to india we consulted a gynecologist. they didnt find any reasons for infertility.. i have a regular 28 day cycle.. so the doctor told me to undergo laproscopy..in laproscopy they found that i have a slight infection in one of the tubes. now i am taking antibiotics..the laproscopy was done on 20th of december..on 26th my period started.. then we tried again for one month...today i got my period..

the doctor suggested to undergo IUI in april/may if i do not conceive by that time..i will be on a two weeks vacation in april/may. i would like to know what is IUI and how is it done..how long will it take? does it need any surgical methods? any rest after the treatment? please reply in detail..i feel so depressed..

I too have gone thru 2 unsuccessful IUIs and will have the 3rd one today. I too was very very tensed before my first IUI. But dont worry, Its just like a normal procedure of concieving. U might have little cramps in ur lower abdomen for a day or two which is very normal.

I pray that u conceive before going for an IUI. I had undergone IUI thrice and is sucessful n the 3rd attempt. It is a very simple procedure. The dr usually monitors the follicle size from Day 10 of ur Cycle and wud give HCG injection to time ur ovulation accordingly. Then around the time of ovulation, they would process ur hubby's sperm(To discard the unhealthy ones) and use a very thin Catheter to inject the sperm directly. The process of pushing the semen just takes 2 mins and is not at all painful. Take my words. I am a girl who is more worried even for a small injection. But i dint feel any pain for IUI...U might feel uncomfortable for those 2 mins if in case u keep ur body rigid...If u relax, it is absolutely painless...After this u will be asked to lie down for 1/2 hr and then u can continue ur work...

U know 1 thing...the 1st IUI's, my hubby used to take me back home n car with no jerk and all...But for the 3rd time i had to go back to my home in Auto, which is like roller - coster in Indian Roads. And i got it positive this time...Just mentioning this for u to know that after 1/2 hr u can resume ur normal work and be relaxed...

thank you niki and vidhu..and congrats vidhu..i wish you all the best niki..i am also praying for the positive result next month..so for doing IUI i will have to wait for my ovulation time, right..i need to plan my leave accordingly..thank you once again
