Problems in School:Unfair rules that schools have
2006-11-29
Name: Rasana Atreya

Hello,

I'm writing an article for the Times of India about what issues parents have with their kids' schools, for example:

1. Being forced to wear thick winter uniforms even in places where it doesn't get very cold

2. Insisting on a menu, and penalizing your kid if
the menu is not followed

3. Not letting kids take bathroom breaks

Any other rule you feel is unwarranted or cruel - if you are concerned about privacy, please let me know and I will not mention your name. Could you please let me know as soon as possible, preferably before Dec 1, 2006? I have a deadline.

Regards,
Rasana

Subject:  exemptions for students with learning disabilities

i have changed my childrens school from an aided institution to a private institution on account of Saturday off (as we parents also have a Saturday off) and computer classes held during school hours. When I approached the school for exemptions for which my child has the requisite certification, the school authorities have been very rude, not forthcoming with their responses and on raising queries, i have been told to take my children from the school as if I am not happy with their style of functioning. Can anybody help with info on the new directives for exemption for children with dyslexia, dysgraphia and discalculia. They stress that the child should learn Typewriting in place of Marathi exemptions, but are not able to provide with curriculum for 7th std child as well as state that he has to learn 7th std maths and not a class lower. pls help with your advise

dear friend, i am sorry that iam late but i feel people who take initiatives should know the full details. so i will tell u the problems. beating up the children in kindergartens that too in a montessory school. in our school they give a lot of home work to parents. that is they make them colour a lot of pictures and ask us to cut it and stick it in a book.this disturbs our daily routine. when we complain on issues like getting beaten up, they just deny and they scream at us back.they conduct something called parental activity day and they force atleast one of the parents to attend school along with our kids. working parents and parents with small babies are facing a great difficulty. if we dont attend our child's grade goes down in progress report.
