Feeding:baby avoids breastfeeding

Hi, My newborn baby girl avoids breast feeding. And when she is very hungry we have to feed her some mill using spoon.
Looks like she is not trying for breast feeding.
What could be the reason? Any solution?
Please help

Subject:  nipple shield



Even i had the same problem.I tried with nipple shield it helped a lot and gradually take it off and ur baby will start to suck directly from u.

Hi,

Please dont use nipple sheild. I had tough time with that. This is what worked for. I used to feed him two spoons of formula & try to breast feed him inbetween. Try to feed him when he is sleepy/just before he wakes up completely. This is what helped me when I have to switch over from nipple sheild.
