Feeding:Do you give solids before feeding milk or after

I started my son on solids since his 4th month ,now he is 6 months old.I give him his solids between milk feedings about 1 to 1 1/2 hours after feeding him milk (He is on formula and drinks milk every 4 hours ) but lately he does' nt open his mouth to eat his solids, i always have to trick him into opening his mouth and honestly it is exhausting me.Am i giving him his meals too soon after his milk .Also he has started taking less milk too , he would normally drink about 5oz now he stops at 3 to 3 1/2 .He is teething,he has one tooth almost half way out , but i am not sure whether it is teething thats troubling him or is it just he is showing his personality while eating food .He will wake up at night to drink milk but will drink little and push the nipple out , which he never used to do before and i am so worried that i don' t get sleep after he wakes up . I am just so completely exhausted .He also has become very cranky ,he just wants to cling to me all the time.I just feel his whole scheduled and i both are completely messed up , i just don' t know what to do , i am in great need of some advice and support.
Thanks

Hi PM,

Your sitution sounds close to mine... my son is 5 1/2 months now an di also started his solids at 4months. Im not sure what you do but what i have started doing is i give him his solids 2 1/2 hours after he has had his milk..thats minimum or i wait till he gets a little hungry and only then do i give him nhis solids otherwise he also doesnt take his feed properly. Then for hs milk i wait till he starts crying a bit, then i know he is hungry and that way takes better feed of his milk.

Other than that, about him clinging to you, thats what kids love i guess. But what i do with my son is in the evening once he wakes up i make him wear his cotton nappy and put him down on the mat to play by himself. I put his toys around him.. i usually do whatever i need to do then and once done i sit with him- without taking him in my arms- i play with him. He plays like that for about half hour.

I basically try and pout him down to play as much as possible...even if its just 5 minutes. As long as im playing with him or someone is entertaining him hes fine. Once he starts yelling its usually cause either hes hungry, sleepy or needs a diaper change.

I hope this will help. Keep me posted.
