Dear all

i have a 5 month old baby boy. I started him with solids y' day. Gave him ragi malt. I am putting up in blore. can anyone tell me which brand of ragi is best here. Also my son hated to eat it. He took only 1/2 teaspoon of the same. This is how i made it.
took roasted ragi powder(nilgris supermarket in blore) roasted it once more then took it off the gas and mixed a little milk(toned) and double water. And with a ceralac kind of consistency i tried to feed my son. HAve i made it in a wrong manner. Do let me know
also i tasted it and found it not very appealing. can ceralac be given intead of ragi??/
pls let me know at the ealiest
thanks

Hi ,
i tell u how i make raagi...
i take a little water (cold )in a katoori & mix ragi powder in it to make sure there r no lumps.
Then i take a liitle water ina bowl & boil it on gas ..add sugar & then the cold mixture(ragi + water)of katori to it.
After this i let it cook it it give out a typical sweetish smell & add ghee & milk....
PLease do not give ragi wihtout milk...
Also i wud like u to talk to ur peditrician b4 u start as 5 months is a little too early.
Hope this helps...
Ravina
PS:
i dont buy readymade raagi from market...i get the raagi crushed in a mill..

same wiht my daughter...
this is what i did...ragi is very good for health...u can gv ur son...
but initially..dont gv him in a very thick consis' y...make it little thin...n dont add water ...babies are very smart when it comes to taste of food...
take say 1/4th tsp ragi...roast it ..till u get smell but dont burn..ragi burns very fast ...take awy fm fire let it cool little add cold milk...it should b enough to make thin consistency...add little sugar...i gv sugeer to my 6 month daughter...n stir it nicely so no lumps r there ...put back on fire ..stir continously...u will see it will become very little thick remove from fire let it cool n gv him...rembr consistency should b little thick then milk..not more than that...
slowly say after 10 days u can change consis' y to little thick n increase the quantity...start with say 1/4th vati n then inc quantity...let me know if it worked ...
