Feeding:Start with rice cereal or ragi?

Friends,

My daughter will turn 6 months soon. So far she is fully on my milk. I plan to start solids as soon as she completes 6 months. My question is whether I should start with rice cereal or ragi? In my community since ragi is considered cooling it is mixed with pinch of wheat flour and given to babies. But I' ve read that wheat flour is not to be given until 12 months. Those who give ragi as first solid to their babies, are you adding some wheat or giving plain ragi. Please provide some suggestions to me. Thank you in advance, Teja

start with rice cereal...after a week u can give him ragi n watch him..some babies get constipated for ragi n even for rice cereal..so watch him carefully..in my family we wunt give whole ragi powder porridge initially...we will soak whole ragi seed in water for 6 hrs..grind it in mixie with water...strain it to get clear ragi juice...mix ragi juice with milk n allow it to boil untill it thickens...most babies do well with thiz kinda preparation..u dunt need to grind thiz daily..can store thiz juice in fridge for 2 days..or soak huge amaount of ragi seeds grind it with water..starin it..n keep that water aside for 1 or 2 hrs...u can see thick fine ragi paste will settele down n clear water will b above..can discard that water or tie it in a clean muslin cloth to get that ragi paste alone..dry it in sunlight...can store it in an airtight container even for 6 months or even more...
