I would like to know from you ladies, as to what dress to wear for interviews in US for developer position in software field.. I m scared to attend interviews as well :( i think i have low self confidence Srey replied. I remember those days. Don' t forget to:

-Sit up straight
-smile
-be enthusiastic

I would wear a black pant suit, black pumps(heels), with a white blouse. If you' re planning on wearing Jewelleries. Keep it on the small size. A simple diamond stud earrings paired with a matching necklace will do just fine.

Its best to go for a formal look in the interview. Regardless of what the other person is wearing..Fridays are casual in most offices so they might be wearing jeans etc..but as a new person who is meeting them for the first time, its always best to wear a suit. You can never go wrong with it.

Go and invest in a nice dark blue, black or dark gray suit. You can wear a round neck/turtle necked top with it. I like maroon/red/blue/green colored ones best.

Dressing formally looks professional and much better. I am in IT and regardless of what we wear(formal, business casual, casual) after joining, at the time of the interview, one is expected to wear formal clothes.

And please buy suitable footwear (like black shoes etc) with your suit. Don' t wear chappals etc.

Practice your introduction (the usual \" tell me something about yourself\" speech) and answers to possible questions and practice them in front of the mirror a few times. Practice makes perfect and the more you practice, the more naturally you will speak in the interview.

Have a mock session with your hubby or friend to prep you up for unexpected questions.

I haven' t been to intervviews for techie positions but my dh has. The first time when he went for an interview many years back he put a blazer on only to be greeted by his interviewers in shorts ,lol. The next time he knew better. He wore jeans and a shirt (also depends on the whether if he wore a cool sweater or not).So for techie interviews I' d say a pair of pants and a nice decent shirt. Since it' s cold now,you could wear a nice turtle neck shirt (looks cool). You' ll get more ideas from other US techie women out here.
