Hello,

I m a US based mom...My son is 25 mths old....he has been eating pretty well....n weighs 32 pounds.
My problem is that he has been eating only rice based things for lunch n dinner....like khichdi of all variety, dal rice, moong rice, pulav, just these things since he eats by spoon...n cannot spit it out.He just swallows. He can chew everything like roti, idli, dhokla, parathas....all food, but does not eat it as a meal, eats little n then starts spitting it...so i give him rice based...he swallows..but now he has become extremely fussy n does not take anything easily.I know he is bored of the same rice texture....but eats nothing else...i have tried maggi too...but the same thing...eats n spits.
Is it that my kid is very texture oriented since he has eaten a lot of gerber....n mashed food ?
Pls let me know how do i develop this habit of chewing dal n roti for lunch....pls help me.

Hi ,

I am in the same boat as you although my son is 22 mos now, we are still having to give him mashed stuff . But now I have started giving him bits of rotis soaked in milk to eat. and he' s now started having at least his lunch - rice and rasam hand mashed but still has some texture. I think it' s just a matter to getting used to it.

My son loves dry cornflakes so I am sure he can actually chew and eat. so I give him some cornflakes or papad alongside his food and put spoonfuls in when he' s busy trying to get flakes or papad into his mouth.

Hope it helps. I hope someone has a useful tip that I can also use.

Minka
