i stopped formula for 2 days and my baby was on bm only. his poop was normal :)
the white stuff was undigested milk solids like you said.

my mil insists that i can start him on cows milk but i am afraid that if formula milk itself was showing undigested milk solids in his poops then how will baby react to cows milk ?

what do you mean by changing the brand of the formula. what is type of the formula then ? is the brand and type same ?

i just want to make sure itz it anything to worry.
also, if it continues with the other brand or type then does it mean that my baby will not get all required fat from formula, as he is not able to digest the milk solids and is all coming out in poop ?
if he is not able to digest fat or milk solids, will he able to eat cheese, egg yolks etc that i am planning to start after he completes 8months.
has it anything to do with milk allergy ?

please throw some lights on this.
Regards,
J

good to hear the updates !
avoid offferng cows milk, if you can explain it to your mother in law aboutt undigested milk solids in formula it might convince her...or the best take her to dr and ask before your dr if cows milk is the option for you !!!!
- if your baby is on iron fortified formula, thn changing the brand will help. type of formula is the characteristic of the formula which is iron fortified or soy or hypoallergic and likewise.
brand means the name of the formula thats changed...
so both are NOT same and many a times, the way these formula are processed,,changes the milk solid fat level and sometimes the milk solids are more or less dpending on the thr way of processng so the one that you were using currently might have been of heavy one for your baby and likewise optng for other brand, which might help him digest the milk solids totally,,might help.
-- there is nothing to worry,,if you started formula like a couple weeks and thn your baby is showng the undgstd milk particles thn its quite possble that your baby is still gettng used to it,,and may be take 1 month or so to get used to digestng them, as by then they not only get adjustd to its heaviness but also thr digestives are gettng mature,,so you can wait for some anthr 15 days,,and still if he shows ne such signs, you might have to change the formula brand.
-. also sometimes direct liquid formulas might causes this,,you can alterntly try the same brand that you are using in the pwder form,,or viz a versa...sometimes they way its mixed with water does make a differnce !

- no, it doesnt mean your baby will not get fat...it just means that the fat content in those formulas are more thn requrd for your baby,,which means, that he was able to digest all he could and rest he threw it off !
this is not allergy,,if it was, thn your taking dairy foods or his acceptng formulas itself would have been a challenge for you,,but itz not the case right !
- if your baby is not able to digest the milk solids, its quite likely that he might tend to skip meals whenever foods like cheese or butter are offerd as main ingrediant in his diet,,but its unlikely that he will not be able to eat them or accept them ! it also means, that if your baby outgrows this, he might not show ne respnses to dairy foods and just eat them normally like other kids do,,and i will just hope for that.
this has nothing to do with allergy,,,we have discssd about food allergy issues, you can read if you like,,,and it should help you understand \" allergy\" in better terms !
