Trying since long:Hi Archie,Annie,Sunshine - Bigger follicle on Day2

Hi,
I had a ultrasound on Day2 of my cycle(9th Sept). My Dr. does ultrasound evrytime on Day2 of my cycle, but had never noted down anything on the sheet. But this time, she had noted down the Follicular size which is like 16mm*14mm...I feel this size is bit larger than it is supposed to be. As she does not usually note down the follicular size on Day2, i have no reference to compare it. Also in last cycle i had 1 big follicle 23*21 which she said will not rupture...Am confused if this follicle would rupture anytime now. I have been asked to come for a Scan on Day8...Bcoz i read in Sunshine's post that she is conceived bcoz of the rupture of follicles in previous cycle.(Hope i have not understood her post wrongly...) Pls clarify my doubts.
Thanks,
Vidhu

annie replied. hey vidhu, don't worry. what i meant is if its a corpus luetium cyst the size will be much bigger around 20*20 mm or more. sometimes last cycles follicles will be left behind. i had like that in 1 or 2 cycles. your doc is the best judge to decide the course of action as she knows your body functioning.
though i am a bangalorean, i live abroad now. don't worry. stress is a major detrimental factor for conception. just tske it easy.......visit garuda mall on my behalf ;-)))
annie replied. hi vidhu, 1st of all don't panic. sometimes follicles will not rupture & will continue to grow which is called as corpus leutium cyst which will disapperr by itself. but the size u hv mentioned doesn't look like a cyst to me. generally when follicular study is done the measurements will be written on a chart & it will be with u to be carried next time. lets wait & watch. my personal feeling is if she asks u to start iui, u shd go ahead with it. i also had a similar problem & also right ovary was responding.so, whatever it is stay cool( i know its difficlut) enjoy life. make it a point to go out during weekends, coz these treatment things will really bug. so see movies, visit malls, friends & keep urself in good mood. thats most important than anything. read as much as u can on the net, just google for infertility or iui & u will get loads of info. always better to stay knowledgable. when u know there is a problem better to tackle it aggressively. good luck dear.
archie replied. Vidhu,
I waited before experienced girls comments mainly because you would get more benefit from them.
This is quite common for PCOS patients and sometime a follicle that was slowly enlarged in first cycle, which should not take place but can happen in PCOS, may be seen like about the matured follicle size in follicular phase of next cycle. This is less likely be rupturing due to lack of supportive hormones in follicular phase.
Also trying to gon on superovulation drugs in this type of situation is not the best remedy rather one must wait for a few cycles to see through sonography that there are no follicles left from earlier cycles and then start studying FSH and think of going on Clomid like drugs from CD2 or CD3 for next 5 days.

hopingfortejas replied. Hi ,
i also have PCOS and have had that many times when there was a mature follicle in CD 2 , as you say it might rupture ..ideally it should not bcoz of the hormone levels but with PCOS and all the hormonal imbalance , it can rupture ....
my doc used to not put me on lcomid cycle if i have a mature follicle because the chances of clomid working is lesser and clomid is not that good for health ....
As you know, we ahve 2 ovaries and they alternatley produce follicles , in my case whenever it wa s the turn of one ovary, it used to cause this porblem of not rupturing the follicle , but since it would be the turn of the other ovary to produce the follicel, i used to ovulate , essentially that menat i was ovulating every alternate month ....
my problem was solved by taking a break from clomid for ~ 3months .... if you are on clomid, ask your doctor if that could be causing this problem ..
and as Sunshine and Anie said , just continue and try not to thik too much abt it , i also conceived ona cycle when we had to cancel the IUI bcoz of just 1 small follicle ...
take care,

annie replied. hey vidhu, i agree with sunshine. don't worry abt making baby. enjoy sex life just for the sake of it & leave rest to God. enjoy life.
Sunshine replied. Hi Vidhu,
This happens sometimes.. you are right, in my case also a follicle of the previous cycle ruptured 5 days after my period. This happens mostly with those people who have PCOD.
My doc in india explained that though there is ovulation, it is moving at a slower rate that its supposed to. Hence a follicle of the previous cycle carries forward to the the next one and may rupture early coz of it's size.
For my case, this same follicle is what i concieved on. So I guess, you just never know..
Don't worry about anything.. just relax and let things happen..
Also, instead of calculating days, i think you should just relax and go ahead have a comfortable and healthy sex life..
Don't concentrate on making a baby.. Believe me, when the doc told me that this cycle was not possible due to the slow movement of the follicles, i just gave up hope, and threw caution to the wind and told my hubby that we're here to enjoy our holiday, so let's forget about everything and just chill out. When i came back, i went for a check up, still nothing. I was waiting for my period.. which didn't come :)
So just relax, trust God. He has a reason and timing for everything.
Good luck to you.
Love,
Sunshine

We have been married for the last 12 years. We are trying for a baby but unfortunately every time it's disappointing. I had 3 abortion, 2 Ectopic pregnancy, 1 IUI failure and 2 IVF failures. I had septum in the uterus and got removed. Since I had a history of ectopic pregnancies, both my fallopian tubes are tied. Due to the poor ovarian reserve ... - Malini [View Message]
