Wish you and family a happy and blessed new year. My son completed 4 months on the first of Jan. He has been exclusively on breast milk all these days. His birth weight was 3.25 Kg and he now weighs 6.54 Kg now. He normally takes about 7 to 8 feeds a day each feed lasting an average of 10 minutes. For the past couple of days the frequency has increased and he is crying every hour or so if awake for milk. He has cough and is on Novamox 100mg 1 ml, 3 times a day. I am not sure if BM is being sufficient for him and if I need to start him on something else. Please let me know.

Subha Hetal replied. his wght is just right,,make sure it doesnt reduce or remain constant,,if either of it,,happens, your bm is not enough for him and he needs formula.
he takes higher feeds,,quite normal,,no problems..he is growng,,might be goin thru growth spurt,,or his increase in intake is just a increase in intake that will continue..
also due to cough,,he might be havng loss of apetite and if medicine is working(in 4-5days,it should help with more than 25% recovery),thn he is coming to his actual intake.
novamox is nothing but havng an antibiotic,which shows he had a mild bacterial infection which gave him cough !
so no worries,,as far as he is recovering,,its okay.
about crying,,novamox can cause a mild discomfort in stomach,,give him tummy time and after this medication also,he continues to do the same,,ask your dr about it.
about,,crying every hour,,can you check his stomach area by pressng it gently just below the naval and see if it givs him discomfort,,hows his stomach,,does it rumble when he cries ? or does he pass on gas well,,,how are his bowels,,,
also,make sure to give novamox ,15mins after feeds...and see if novamox is not the cause of it...

if this does not helps,,you can try offering formula in one feed and see his responses,,,or feed more often,,if required,,,and see if that helps.
if this continues,wat so ever,,make sure to make it a concern to your dr,,you surely dont want to prolong this,,as your baby is on medication and its not worth a wait long for it !
