I feel there is no right age for enrolling the kids in hobby classes. As soon as the child is able to speak and want to do something, he can be enrolled. Basically the idea is that he is able to grasp. Say if a kid of 3 years wants to draw, then he should be allowed to draw and parents should ask him whether he likes drawing or not and if the answer is yes the they can ask him if he wants to join a class for it. the response of the child may help the parents in taking a decision. I am a hands-on mom but i encourage my daughter to do whatever she feels like. sometimes she wants to learn drawing so i enroll her in a hobby class. She wanted to learn skating and i also got her to learn skating. so in a way i help her in her pursuits. Though i know that now she is very small and does not know what does she actually wants but by helping her at every step, i ensure that she gets what she wants.
