Trying since long:Cysts in Ovaries & Fibroid - Message for Archie!!!
2006-08-16
Name: pinky

i have been trying to conceive for the past 8 months, but to no avail. Recently as per my gyn's advice, i got ultrasound scan done and the report says as follows

--> bulky uterus with subserous fibroid (3.9cm X 3.9cm)

--> bilateral adnexal cysts containing internal echoes and septations (right adnexal cyst measures 5.6 X 4.5cm, left adnexal cyst measures 4.4cm X 3.2cm). also highlighted as \";chocolate cyst\"; with pelvic adhesion.

i have regular periods without any pain as such, since last 4-5months i have been experiencing pain during the 1st day and continues mildly on the 2nd and 3rd day too. i have a 24day cycle and am 28yrs old. this is my first conception trial, hence quite tensed. my gyn says that i need to wait for 3 months and try for conception during this period, get a scan done after 3 months, based on which she would recommend further course of action. meanwhile, i have also been asked to go for blood sugar test, FSH, LH, prolactin, urine tests.

i have got to know from my friends that till such time the cysts are removed/disappear, one cannot conceive. since my ovaries have enlarged and are cystic, do i need to undergo medication before trying conception? i am very worried hence wanted to take your opinion too.

thanking you in anticipation.

Pinky,
These cysts are likely to fade on their own. So don't get worked up so much. You may find difficult to conceive in few cycles if this condition persist. Try to have pelvic ultrasound done after a few months to see if situation get better or need medication.
Meanwhile testing hormones during follicular phase is a good idea, even estrogen levels can be checked in addition to what you will be checking for.

watch your weight and try to intercourse with condom, sometime some mild infections get such appearance.

your elevated prolactin will make you ovulate abnormal or irregular. treating is best.
I don't know how much MRI will help, won't say it's necessary or not.

if cyst remains then laproscopy is a good option.

Hieeee

i am little relieved after seeing your reply and am confident that sooner or later i will conceive. meanwhile there is another problem that has come up after getting my blood tests done. everything like TSH/LH, haemoglobin,blood sugar etc is normal, however, the prolactin shows 61ng/ml whereas the normal range is 0-25. my gyn has asked me to go for a brain MRI. is this something to be worried about? will this interfere/delay my conception? however my gyn has asked me to take tab "cabgolin 0.5" total 4tabs(once a week for 4 weeks) but after the brain MRI. also the gyn says we might go for laproscopy after 2-3months. kindly suggest if i am going in the right track and is the MRI really required. thanks a lot for your immediate response.
