Due Date Club November 2003:Mother's worry :-)

Hi all,
Its been great sharing all our feelings at this board and as days pass i find myself becoming more concerned about my coming baby..i daydream a lot about how and what my baby will look like and what i will do with him/her?
with these fantastic thoughts i get too get worried about how i will take care of my baby. I plan to continue working after my baby comes and wanted if others who are working now can share their views. i feel a bit worried if the maid will be able to take care of my baby properly.
How do you all plan to raise your baby? Many of my friend actually gave up their jobs to be full time moms..anyone wants to share their views and plans??
take care

Hi rekha. Like others even I am working and relate to ur concern of going back to work after baby arrives. Best advice would be to go back after 4 mths, if possible. This should give u enough time to get the baby used to some semi solid food too, since u won't be there to feed the baby all the time away from home. Leaving with day care is safer but more expensive. But if u r in India then I hope ur family is around when the maid takes care of the baby, at least in the intial stages, so that she can be monitored and told what is right and not. Do keep ur mind open to working part time to start with as u may miss the baby to start with. Slowly, u can resume full time job. Hope this helps.
Good luck to us all.

HEy Rekha, day dreaming about the baby is good. I read somewhere that it is a kind of bonding between the mother and the child and the nice feelings you have when you do it makes the baby feel happy and nice too.. :) So, keep doing it.

I worry too about how I will manage with taking care of the baby mostly by myself. Like Rama, I dont think we can afford to hire someone to come home and take care of the baby and I dont want to bother my family too much with helping me with the baby, so Day care is the only option left and I haven't done any research whatsoever about Infant day care.

My mom will help me for a few months and after that my husband and I will have to somehow manage (adjust our work timings or try to convince our bosses to give us the work from home option RAma was talking about) till the baby is big enough (7-10 months) to go to day care.

Your friends you gave up their jobs are indeed lucky to be able to do it.

We should all keep in touch even after Nov, so we can share/talk/vent about time management and baby care.

TAke Care

I completely understand.. I am working too.. Where are you working in India or elsewhere..?

I am working in US and I dont think we will be able to afford a maid for looking after the baby.. I am confused about sending baby to day-care.
Hope others working moms who already have kids can share their experience..

One option that would make life simpler is Working From Home for wife and husband atleast for few days a week so they can share days.. But not all employers give Work from Home option..

What do you think..

Diaper Service Provider,Bangalore
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
