My baby is having sticky eyes with a mucousy-like thing from past 2-3 days. Doctor has asked me to massage with a cotton ball, but I am not seeing any progress. He's going to give antibiotics if it doesn't go away by Monday. My friend's mom used milk when her baby had this problem. Do you know of this remedy, or any other that works. I don't think I'll use milk, but just hoping something works instead of giving her antibiotics.

Ashna also had this problem, doc said it was because of her tear ducts. you need to massage those. So, he had asked us to press at the end of the eye near her nose with the finger but he said our fingers were not good enough for her, so asked to use Q tip. We wet that with warm water and press it near her eye end. And, keep cleaning her eye with wet warm cotton ball and it went away. Also, my doc was mad at us for not doing massage properly, so we did it afterwards and he never mentioned anything about antibiotics. I am sure it will go away soon. Our friend's son had the same problem and it went away in 2 months. Ashna doesn't have that problem anymore also. So, keep massaging and it will go away.

rimi also had the same problem. she was having this mucus type discharge from eye, her doc asked me to dip the cotton wool in cold water and clean the eyes - u need to press the end of the eyes that is near the nose so that the mucus comes out and eyes r cleaned. it is little difficult to do that however...

and doc gave her some eye drops for 3 days - it is called genticyn - this is gentamicin eye drops from allergan india ltd.; i don't know what is equ. in USA.

hope this helps...... i am not sure abt. using milk for this problem.....
