i am the mother of 12 month old boy.He is a preterm baby 2.3kg(preterm by 40 days).His 1st birthday is on jan 17.right from his birth am suffering a lot to feed him.as soon as he was born he was admitted in NICU,and i couldn't feed him for 10 days.later doctor adiced to feed slowly like 10,20,30ml using nipple shield.it was really painful b'cos he didnot know to suck it,always i need to force the breastmilk.it continued for 3 months.somehow he has forgotten the nippleshield started sucking directly from me.but i had severe nipple rashes,bleeding whenever he sucks(even now)but i can manage that with ointments....now he is almost a year old baby 9.5 kg.my milk is insufficient now and i think its high time to introduce someother milk.he does even drink water using the bottle.he is not knowing to suck,even if he sucks he doesnot know to swallow it or do simultaneously.am trying this for more than a month.finding very difficult to give milk using spoon or the milk kendi(?)also am not sure which milk is good lactogen2/cows milk /diary like aavin?!!am so upset that he has lost wt this month.reduced by 300gm.am believe that u could provide me a solution! vijayalakshmi replied. hi,
am giving him solids 3-4 times a day,like breakfast idli with soup,pongal,sometimes dosa 7.30am;11.30 i give him smashed frsh apple mixed with egg or carrot boiled with dal or ragi on routine;lunch at 3.00pm dal rice or mixed veg rice or curd rice or rice with green paste.in the evening he eats banana or some sprouted cereals .9pm i give hime rice,dal kanchi or cerelac or milk extracted from wheat.everyone time i ve to force him to eat.he does not drink any fluid not even water,soup in the bottle.i give him water in spoon inbtwn feeding solids.sometimes he is fasting continuosly for more than 10 hrs,sometimes even the whole day.other day he eats normal atleast 3/4 of the qty i give.he has learned to spit whatever i give.am trying to make eating a fun play for him with colourful toys,sometimes water games,sometimes with music...am worried about the milk intake .we went to peaditrician yest and fou nd he has lost 400gms wt.am really upset.he has suggested DExolac-3 milk powder,and a multivitamin syrup.he doesnot know to drink any fluid.he drinks milk(the new one)sip by sip may be 10-15 ml,takes 30 mins ,i have to play with him for another 10 ml ,then he is fed up,refusing to drink.in the night time am still breastfeeding otherwise he never sleeps,waking up for every 1 hr.pls help in feeding him fluids like milk,juice,soup.he likes drinking using spoon.but that takes a long time finally he is frustrated! minka replied. I have been giving aavin milk to my son since he was 4 mos old . Lactogen is also good. How about solids ? Are you giving him solids ?
