Trying since long:For Archie and all !!!

Hello all,

I have always read new stuff on this site and it has helped me solve many of my queries. We started trying for a baby 2 months back. I have a problem of irregular periods. They are not very irregular but when they go they come after 2 months and this happen about twice a year.

Last 2 years i was on birth control pills and I had regular periods for full 2 years. I wnt off the pills this year in feb and after that for 4 months i had periods without them. But, in july and aug I have missed them again....Can anxiety of conceiving after having intercourse delay ur periods too?

My gynac has now put me on 7 days provera course and after I get periods she has asked me to take 5 clomid tablets starting on 4th day of periods which will help me ovulate and have periods.....My question is how soon can a women conceive when on clomid and are the chances of multiples more after taking these tabs ? Iam maitaining my BBT now to give me an idea about my ovulation time. Also, my gynac has called me for checkup on every month now during my periods as she says sometimes clomid forms cysts in ovaries, so she'll check that every month to make sure i don't have any.

Please can anyone who are on these tabs like me, like to share thier stories with me. How soon did u all get pregnant and was ur pregnancy a normal preg without miscarraiges ? And does the BBt chart give you an idea of ovulation after taking clomid ? And did anyone have cysts formation when on clomid?

Please Archie and all guide me... Iam 28 years old and staying in US right now.

Thanks...

Hello Ruhi:

After reading your post, I feel as if I am reading my own case. I am 28 years old suffering from irregular periods. I was on BC pills for 2 years and hence got regular periods. I went off the pill this January. I got my period in Feb and March after doc put me on Glucophage. April I skipped it. She put me on Provera. I got it again in May and June and July I skipped it again. I missed my period got a –hpt. She did a blood test to confirm my pregnancy. She has now put me on Provera again. I finished two rounds of Clomid one 50 mg and one 100 mg but my body did not respond. Last cycle it generated only 1.5 progesterone on the 21st day. This cycle she has put me on 150 mg clomid. She says if it does not work out this cycle, she will refer me to a reproductive endocrinologist. She has already sent my file to his office. Its been eight months now. But we are taking a day at a time. Atleast after going to reproductive endocrinologist we will surely get some answers.

Clomid is just a superovulation drug. You will come to know you have conceived after you have missed a period a have got +hpt. In our case( irregular period), it is better to confirm + or –ve pregnancy with a blood test. Chances of twins (more than triplets) are higher.

BBT along with OPK is a great way of determining ovulation. It may take you a couple of months to figure out your cycle.

Please try not to get tensed and anxious (better said than done) as stress can cause delay in periods. It also affects the hormonal level of the body. I’ve heard that its easier to conceive if we have a hormonal balance. Also try to have an intercourse with your hubby for sake of intimacy rather than both getting pressurized.

Loads of baby dust,
Lubs.

Subject:  Diagnosis?

Hi,

What was the doc's diagnosis for irregular periods??

I was on clome and conceived after a lapro for my PCO. Your doc must have diagnosed PCOS (Coz of your previous history of irregular periods, which became regular with pills - Classic PCO sign) and has started your on Clomid, to help you conceive. But in my case, they also gave me Metformin (Glucophage) to reduce the insulin resistance and to stop the folicles from being \";candied\";.

For this, they 'diagnosed' my PCO with an U/S scan and ran a complete hormone test on me. Also looked for androgen-related traces. I'm not sure whether all this has been done for you or the doc has just gone on gut feel.

Clomid causes cysts when the course of treatment does not attack the \";cause\"; of PCO - Type 2 diabetese or insulin resistence p;us androgen/estrogen imbalance in the body. Sugar deposits on the egg follicles, preventing them from rupturing and releasing the egg. Clomid promotes folicle growth. But, if these follicles are still let to be candied, then they turn into cysts.

i had 6 cycles of clomid/Metformin and a very tough exercise regimen (knocking off 10 kilos can bust PCO and help recover from insuling related issues) and then went on to Lapro to 'puncture' the cysts. I conceived on the 2nd cycle after the surgery.

Plus, when you're on the above treatment, the doc should order for a follicle study (pelvic U/S) from the 2nd unsuccessful month onwards. This will track the growth of follicles in the ovary and can pinpoint (or even induce with an injection of hcg) ovulation.

While trying to conceive, eat folic acid and lots of protien/iron rich food. Try to be in good shape and loose flab if you have it.

Hope i've been of help. baby dust!!

ruhi dont panick dear.its too son to start panicking.i've been married for 8 years and still childless.ur periods are not all the irregular.i've been on clome for 3 cycles and got follicular studies done.i've also got IUI done.clome should not be taken for more than 6 cycles and that too a break of 1 month everytime inbetween to be extremely safe.all medicines have side affects and in some cases, too much use of clome too results in cysts.i'm sure ur anxiety has contributed to ur miseed/late periods.dont stress and relax and enjoy the natural baby making process.just feel better reading about all of us others who've been in a much worse condition and u'll feel better.and honestly u got little reasons to wrorry.u've just started trying.normally doctors start treating patients who've atleast tried for sonception for a year and failed.only then the medications start.pls relax and u might be surprised with a baby.take care.love.
