Hi,
My son is 20 months old and he is stilling drinking his milk in his bottle. I am trying to make him get used to a sipper. But he is showing no interest in drinking from the sipper. He would rather not drink than drink from the sipper or he will go on crying till i give him milk in his bottle. Please do help me as to how to go about with the transition to a sipper

Hi Srilakshmi,

If ur 20 month old child is happy with the bottle let him continue with it, there is just no harm. Let the child do what he feels comfortable. I started using a glass for my son when he was 24 months old, i think u can easily wait for some more time, let the child take his own time.

Subject:  Drinking milk thru sippy cup

Hi,
Until a month back, my 13 month old daughter would also refuse to have milk from a sippy cup, although strangely she would drink water from cup only! Then we tried to give her milk in the cup ... she behaved in the same way as ur son did.. rather NOT have milk than to have it from a cup. We tried for a week.. and then stopped. Meanwhile we would encourage her more to use her cup for water ( we never gave her juice ... instead offer the whole fruit itself ). again from last week onwards we started to give milk in the sippy cup again and now she has started to drink milk from sippy cup.. although everytime she would act fussy before actually starting to drink it. But what is bothering me is that still now we have to hold her in the lap ( like her good old early days! ) and she would drink the milk from the cup which has to be held by us! So self feeding part has not yet started .. though sometimes she would drink water from the cup on her own holding the cup. One thing is she got attracted to the cups mostly because of their bright red, yellow colours!! Try it out and good luck!
Bye
Durba
