My son is 19 months old. When he tries to burp, sometimes, he throws up. Also, when he has eaten full, and if i give him water some half hour later, then too he throws up. He does not eat in bulk, so i give him little portion every 2 to 3 hrs. Doctor said tht he mite hv GERD problem, and suggested to give zantac for a month. I'm really not sure wht to do with this GERD problem. Also, he doesnt make a sound sleep at nite times. It would be great if somebody cud throw light on GERD problem and also abt how to feed and what to feed such kids. ST replied. Zantac can make him more comfortable - ease the heartburn and uneasiness and slightly relieve the reflux. But it is not a cure for GERD. I would suggest that you try the ZANtac and see if it gives any relief for a month. It is important for him not to feel uneasy due to the reflux, otherwise he will resent eating. The Zantac can aid in that.

After that you can take him to a specialist. Sometimes they will refer you to an occupational therapist who will give good tips on how to feed your son. Don't worry it can be dealt with patience.

I wish I knew some natural methods of easing the reflux but I do not. You can try to see that he is upright for atleast 30 mins after feeding.
