Trying since long:Repeated Miscarriages

Dear all,

I am 36 years old and married for last 10 years. After one year of marriage, I conceived but had a miscarriage after 3 months. Again I conceived after 16 months. I was given PROFASI injections (16 injections) two injections every week. This was done since my Gynaecologist categorized it as \";Precious Pregnancy\"; and asked me to be under complete bed rest. I was found to be having Gestation diabetes by 7th month of conception. I had a caesarian delivery and gave birth to a baby boy who weighed 4.5 Kgs. He is almost 7 years now and is fine.

However for the last 18 months, I am trying to conceive for the second child. I had three miscarriages in a row, all the time cardiac activity of foetus stopping after 6-8 weeks and I was advised D&C. Before conceiving for the third time, I was advised to check for Antibodies in blood which revealed NEGATIVE. After I became pregnant for the 3rd time, I was on Low dosage aspirin. But still I had a miscarriage.

After the last miscarriage, my Gynaec told me that this could be happening due to \";Single Gene Disorder\";. Also myself and husband have been asked to go for KARYOTYPING to find out any abnormality in chromosomes. We are awaiting the result of the same.

Though we browsed the internet to understand \";Single Gene Disorder\";, it is too complex to understand.

Has any one of you gone thru similar problems and if you have knowledge of any solution, please let me know.

Thanks in anticipation of your help,

Hopeful

Hi Hopeful,
My advice to go to a reproductive endrocronologist RE for further testing if the karoptyping results are -ve. I have 3 losses from June 05 to March 06 all before 8 weeks gestation. Also I am only 28 and don't have any living kids... So after my 3rd loss I have now started seeing a RE. They do all sorts of tests ranging from blood tests, to ultrasounds etc.
My RE told mcs can happen due to any of the following reasons:

1. Quality of the egg / sperm. As u age the quality goes down.
2. Blood supply to the uterus. Due to many clotting factors like MTHFR, FACTOR V etc blood supply can be low to the fetus thus resulting in the loss.
3. Improper gene formation. This is just bad luck... when the egg/sperm meet and they form a wrong non viable gene formation.

Anyway my advice is go to a RE. They will do everything to find out thr root cause of ur loss. I am so sorry for your losses.

Simba

hopeful,
If you have had a serious genetic disorder that would have affected chances even in your mid 20s now that you are in mid 30s and your spouse may be in late 30s there is chance that some of the single gene disorders will start to show their impact.
Let karyotyping be done and you will know what holds in there.
If all comes fine then have the quality of sperm and egg tested by urologist and reproductive endocrinologist, respectively.

Three miscarriages in a row is worse and you will be offered medical help to investigate the root of cause.
