Hi,
I am new to this board. I have a 5 month old son. we started some rice/oatmeal cereal 2 weeks back. He was eating cereal & also drinking fine. Since past 4 days he just drinks 2oz breast milk from the bottle and doesnt want to drink anymore. This is in a gap of 3-4 hrs of time. Not sure if anyone else has faced this problem. I am going nuts by the time I feed him. Please I need help, suggestions to make my son drink 4-5 oz of milk as he was doing before. Thanks a bunch!!!!!

Hi Priya,
Yes, I am in the US - Virginia. My son is a little better now. He did that for about 2-3 weeks. He also did not pass stools for 5 days in a row. Then the doctor gave a suppository and asked me to start on vegetables. I started with Organic Sweet peas first and now on Squash. He is doing lot better nowadays, not sure how long though. so I dont know if he was uneasy or was it just a phase. Hope this helps.

Hai mom. I have 8 month old son. He does the same too. Till know he refuce to take milk (bottle) more than 2oz. Some time he refuce to take that too. He is also not happy with his solid food such as nestum, rusk, milupa, etc. When I consult with doctors, they told me these is normal. They said when baby feel hungry they will ask for it.

Thank you so much for giving me some assurance that this could be normal. Also, when he is drinking milk he makes a sound as if he is straining to pass a bowel movement. Once he does this he stops drinking. This happens after he drinks like 2.5 oz. I am giving him pear, prune juices. Could anyone please suggest which could help my son. Thanks a lot again.

Hi, My DD is now 13 mnths old ..and touch wood eats reasonbly well. But during the period 4-9 months it was a real nitemare.. somedays ( maximum a week ) she would take 4-5 oz of milk after 3 hrs and then suddenly she would refuse milk for at a stretch of 5-6 hours and even then she would not drink more than 3-4 oz. i went thru some sort of a mental torture! But strangely her maximum growth spurt was during this period only! Howevre my doctor was always assuring me and told us to feed her only when she wants ( which at times i felt was like a never !). So u see.. this sort of phase is very normal and also a passing one. any way best of luck
