For some years the parents have to take care of the child at each and every step but at the same age some time should be spared in providing certain self-defense training as you cannot be with your child every time and everywhere. Martial arts makes up a good example.

Danger and threats cannot be avoided but, yes, may be reduced by keeping your child under certain restrictions. It may sound trivial but proper return time to home should be fixed, if possible. Strangers should be avoided as far as possible.

Always leave your child out of the house with certain guidelines depending on the type of activity he is going to perform. Always figure out a way of connecting him/her after certain intervals; and yes try not to irritate him in this process.

There are many classes for kids where they teach self defense. It is very important for people to know self defense as you never know when it might come handy. Also tell you kid all the safety rules and basic things when he or she goes out.

Make him sit and explain all the safety measures to him like tell him to stay away from strangers and never to take anything from them. And as a parent it is your duty to check on them in proper intervals.

Safety is to be learnt at home. It is important to teach kids about safety and other basic things like their name, address and parents’ name, emergency contact numbers, etc. My husband and I have taught these basic things to our child. His school (Orchids International) has chosen Safety Measures as their theme for a week teaching both children and parents the importance of saftey factors and the need for awareness.

Teach your children that adults should not approach children for help or directions. Tell your children that if they are approached by an adult, they should stay alert because this may be a \" trick.\"

Don’t drop your children off alone at malls, movie theatres, video arcades, or parks. Nor, leave your children unattended in an automobile. Children should never hitchhike or approach a car when they don’t know and trust the driver.
