Dear all,

I have 5 months old boy,for whom i have started spoon feeding the baby rice mixed with formula.

If I make him sit on my lap and feed him,he doesnt know how to swallow and starts to cry.So i was forced to place him on my legs streched.

I want to stop this habit of feeding him.
So can u plz suggest me on how can i make him to eat sitting on my lap??? swatts replied. This is what I did with my daughter... i started with dal ka paani at 4 months. I used to put her head and little of her back on a pillow on a reclining position and feed her.. so that she is not lying down completely and I can see her properly at the same time show toys to her.
Once she started sitting supported by the age of 5 months i started making her sit in the pram so that I am facing her and can spoon feed her. But by this time she could swallow food well so have no trouble. Now she has cereal for b'fast fruit for lunch and Khichdi with veg for dinner all sitting in the pram till she can sit properly withour support.

I started cerelac (once a day, as told by his doc) for my son, when he completed four months, and gave the food in the similar way as you explained. Once he started sitting on his own, he himself stopped this habit of taking food while lying down and I used to make him in my lap or in sofa next to me and feed. So dont worry about habits now. 2. is your baby head steady while he sits in your lap ?
3. is he able to sit unsupported or supported ?
4. what is your child birthwght and currnt wght ?

if your baby is not ready for solids, as he is showing signs,,take a break,,try after sometime !
