Due Date Club November 2003:Glucose test next week
2003-08-01

Hi All,
I have my glucose test sometime next week. Do you think that I should cut down on sweets/mithais a couple of days before going for the test? Also I have 2-3 fruits daily. Would that affect the test result? I plan to continue eating my normal diet so that if there is sugar in my blood it may be detected! I put on 13 lbs in the 5th mth, so now I am worried abt the glucose test result :(
Please reply soon.

hey guys,
I just had my Glucose test two days before and My doc had advised to fast for 12 hours, means not having anything after dinner and go for the test at 8 in the morning. So, I guess make sure from your doctor again about fasting.
I am just waiting for my results now, I will find out on Monday.

Hey Simmi and Radhika, thanks for the info about fasting before the test. My test is at 4 pm and I remember someone mentioning that we should fast for 2 hrs before the test and I was thinking about when a best time would be to have my lunch on that day.

Thanks for clearing up the conflicting info I had.
Radhika, keep us updated with the results of your test...I am sure everything will turn out just fine.

M P, I am sure everything will turn out fine with your test. Take good care of yourself and eat well. :)
Good luck

Hey Avi. My glucose test is not due until end of the mth but I specifically asked about fasting and doctor strictly said no. Said this stage of pregnancy, we don't advice any fasting. The instructions too say no fasting, like Radhika. Hey Radhika, hope all went well with your test.
Have a nice weekend guys.

Hey M P...my suggested to continue eating as you usually do and not make changes to your diet based on wanting to pass the test because if there is a problem with your blood glucose levels (I am sure everything is fine)you would want it to be taken care of. Fruits do contain sugar but they are natural sugars and are good for you, so dont cut down on your fruits. Cutting down on sweets is always a good thing because they are mostly just empty calories.

From what I've heard from others on this board, I think we have to not eat anything for 2 hrs before the test but my doctor did not even mention that.

Good luck with your test and keep us updated with how it goes.

Thanks for your reply Avi. Glad to hear that fruits should not pose a problem. And as for sweets, luckily I dont have a sweet tooth.
My doc did not mention abt fasting before taking the test. I believe I just have to drink this rather sweet glucose drink and have my blood drawn after an hr. In fact she did not even mention nything abt taking any precautions, so I wont be changing my diet.
Will keep u posted on the results, and I HOPE they r ok !!

Avi,

Just as an FYI...I took the GT yesterday, and you dont have to fast before the 1 hr test unless your doctor specifically asks you to. In fact the instruction sheet said "No fasting required."

Hope things are well with you!!

Diaper Service Provider,Bangalore
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
