Hi Hetal,
I have a question regarding my 6 months old daughter, she will turn 7 months on 9 th Dec. When she was born her weight was 8lb 5oz. She lost more than 10% in first week but she was back to her birth weight by end of 2nd week. I was 100% brestfeeding her till 4.5 months, initially I was thinking of bfing till 6 months but I guess she was ready for solids. She had milk protein allergy when I was feeding her so I had to restrict my intake of milk products, but after starting solids she was ok, I guess she out grow it. Now she takes oatmeal with banana, rice plain cereal, carrot, peas and some daal ka pani. I just want to know that it is said that in first year baby should get maximum nutrition from milk as she is not raedy to take formula she just drink my milk is she getting enough milk. She take my feed 4-5 times a day for 5-15 min, it just depends on her mood. What all I have told you about her food intake is that enough, what all things can I add. At her 6 months checkup she weigh 15lb, other wise (touchwood) she is an active baby...started to crawl..:), no teeths yet...:(
I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks!
Lucky

after birth, during first week,,often babies loose thr wght,,its quite normal,,
with bw at 8.5lbs and wght at 6months with 15lbs, i expected her to be around 17lbs,,500grams even if i let it go,,she needs to add in 500grams,,achvable,,not a prob,,
this could be because she is not gettng enough of your milk ! because otherwise her diet at 6months,,the varieties are good enough..start introducing her with other vegie, fruits and other things,,check in links below :

you can add in to her diet the following :

http://www.indiaparenting.com/boards/showmessage.cgi?messageid=6593&table_name=dis_feeding

http://www.indiaparenting.com/boards/showmessage.cgi?messageid=6870&table_name=dis_feeding

plan her diet upto 9months and check on her acceptance,,for ne milk byproducts which you will be introducing around 8months and onwards...
if it suits you, try to bf her more often,,as she is not gettng enough feeds,,or ask your dr if your baby needs formula,,check on the type of formula first,as your baby was sensitive to milk protein,,even if she has outgrown,,there are chances that milk based formula(milk solids,,) might not be a good option for her,,so before offering ask your dr !
otherwise she is ready for solids and continue bf until you can,,make sure that she drinks enough bm or formula..she needs it,,dont compensate with health when it comes to giving MILK either formula or bm,,,its still her primary food until she is 10months-1year...
teeth has nothing to do with age,,its ok for babies to be without teeth upto 15-18months...as far as her gums are able to chew food well, no worries !

good luck
