Hi
I am a mommy of an 8.5onth old and up untill recently he refused to take the bottle. So if I ever went out I had to nursing him. I wear a nursing bra and carry around a wrap or a cloth big enough to throw over my shoulder and cover baby's head. He used to nurse under this. Otherwise if I was in a big mall and the washroom was clean (they usually are in big malls) I used to go into one of the booths and nurse him.
Nursing on the plane is a must just before and during take off and landing. U will be told so by the flight attendants as this reduces the discomfort ur baby will feel due to the change in air pressure.
I was a lucky one and my baby slept from the time we began boarding till the time we disembarked... air pressure and all...U never know yours just might...
All the best and have a great trip home.

You are very lucky that you are visiting India. I havn't visited India sincwe 2 years. We are expecting our second baby so at least I will be able to meet my mom who is coming this Friday.
Sorry to tell you all thias but I am just excited to see my mom.
I took my daughter to Indai when she was five months and no problem at all breast feeding her. Actually it is very convinent because you don't have to wash any bottles & pumps. Wear a nursing bra. You can also buy a nursing tee-shirt. This tee-shirt has a cutout and you don't have to lift the entire tee-shirt to nurse the baby. WHile nursing you can put baby's blanket over your shoulder so that you have privacy. Make sure you keep some room for air flow and keep checking the baby. Usually all the babes cries during take-off and landing. Nurse your baby just before the plane takes off and land. Basically drive his attention to something else.
Happy Journey!

Momy,

This is what worked when I flew with my 5 month old son. As he got ready for his feed, I took him near my breast. Then I covered both him and me with a duppata. That way, he was able to see my face. But I was hidden from the world. It takes some getting used to but it was great for both of us. I opened & closed my shirt under the duppata.

Since you have some time before your flight you can try feeding him by covering only your breast with the dupata or cloth which is available for that purpose. The only reason it did not work for me was that my son wanted to look at my face during the feed. SO we both went under the duppata. The reason I chose the duppata was because it is thin enough for me to look out but nobody from outside can look in.

It is better to start practising this at home before your flight. I used this method on planes, trains and buses. That way my breastfeeding continued interrupted for five months in India.

People in the flight would rather have a quiet baby! Make sure to breastfeed during takeoff, landing and turbulence. The change in air pressure makes the ear pop. It hurts and makes babies cry.

Good luck!

Good luck

Momy- I read in an article about feeding in plane... Carry a shawl or ask for blanket. Take the window seat and tie blanket/cloth on the front and back of your seat and enjoy the breatfeed. It gives you privacy...

I was not breastfeed in my childhood hence the idea of sucking and feeding from a woman's full, engorged breasts has infatuated me. It is a fantasy that drives me wild like nothing else, just the thought of laying my head in a woman's lap while she brings her swollen nipples to my mouth.
