I would like to have experienced Moms input

My son is latching properly but some days it is round the clock... He drinks for 30 minutes and take 30 minutes to go to sleep and gets up in an hour and sometimes half an hour and ready to go for feeding again... Is this normal...I can hear him swallowing and I know he is getting... Also I heard sometimes yu feel the breast is empty but when baby latches it automatically produces milk...

But the whole thing is keeping me awake though it is not happening everyday but 2-3 times in a week...

Is the first month like this?
Will it get better?
Any suggestions/advise?

Oct board 05 mommy replied. Yes this is very normal. Baby do this in growth spruts. they do thid to let your body know that they are groeing and want more milk. So extra sucking will increase your supply as he will take more now in future.

let him keep sucking at breast as this will increase your milk supply for future.

After 1.5 months you can try spacing the feeds 1.5 to 2 hrs.

growth spruts comes in 2nd, 4th week then at 2 month 4 moths like that......so he may drink more and sleep more for 2-3 days brfore resuming his pattern again. Meet his increasing needs as he grows.
