Parents of Preschoolers  Discussion Forum

Hi,
I am planning to put my 2 yrs. old daughter in to Daycare or preschool. I live in US and really worried about how she is gone a react? She has never been anywhere without me and I am scared how is she goning to adjust at the school. I can't imagine leaving her while she is crying. Does anyone has any suggestions on how to handle the situation?

I put my daughter in nursery when she was 17 months. I live in Bermuda. She would cry when I leave her there, but as I am working mom, I had no choice, but to leave her crying. Her teacher told me she would stop crying the moment I was out of sight. My daughter did this for 1 week, and after that she was fine. In fact she was more eager to go there, as she has chidren her age around there and as she can play. She even refuses to come back home in the evening and wants to play there. Some children are more fussy and cry for almost a month or even more, but eventually they get used to it. I know it will be hard to leave your child while crying, but you have to do it as you know its for her good that you are doing it. Don't worry, she will be fine, very soon.
