Hi ,
My husband has a very good sperm count. No problems on his side.
I am on clomid tablets and injectibles.
last cycle of iui i had 3 follicles, i am not sure abt hostile mucus.
I had asked doc will he be performing any tests on hostile mucus he says it will not be needed.
Since if its hostile mucus the one will conceive thru IUI. He didnt perform any hormone test on me when we started the treatment. One cycle we checked with clomid but i ovulated very late so he suggested we go ahead with injectibles.
I am not sure wether he is taking me thru the right path of treatment.
Archie I had a question. A day before IUI doc injected me it seems thats for my eggs to ovulate and only on that day he had performed ultrasound. on the day of iui is it necessary to check if ovulation has happened.. and if its timed rightly.
Also wanted to know would it be safe to keep relations naturally on the day of IUI after the procedure is done?
Will try to stop worrying :)

when the problem cannot be pinpinted to, IUI is generally the path most of the docs take since it does work in many cases ...but i am suprised that he switched you to injectibles so soon ..i had 5 cycles on clomid and my doc was planning to keep me on one more cycle of clomid(6 total) ..before switching me to injectibles ....
I am not an expert but try figuring out how much will be the sideeefects of injectibles ....

i guess the injection u had before IUI is HCG and it is acoomn procedure .... it is used for timing your ovulation correctly ..since you ovulate generally ~36 hours after that shot ..and no they do not perform ultrasound since the lube material they put when doing vaginal u/s might affect the mobility of the sperm ....
for me, my IUI was done 24 and 48 hours after the HCG shot ..i am not sure if this is the right way but this is what is followed everywhere if two IUIs are done in one cycle ...

so basically i think your doc is doing fine ... one thing i would suggest is asking more Qs to him/her ..my RE used to get alittle irritated with all the Qs i asked :) .... but in the end it did help me to be more confident of her .... and actually it is recommended to have relations along with IUI since it improves your chances ..but try to have atleast ~24 hours gap since sperm count needs to be good

Ask your doc to do post-coital test ..which is something like a smaller version of pap-smear , they do it generally within 24 hours of intercourse to see how the sperm is doing in your mucus ...

BTW, i tried TTC for approx 2 years ..with RE help for ~6 months ..
