Hi Friends!
I'm a silent reader of this site right from my pregnant days.My Son is around 8.5 months old,his birth wt was 3.75kg and he was gaining weight normally until his 7th month started.I breastfed him exclusively till 4 months and then i started with nestum rice and other cerelac pdts.He used to poop only once that too immediately after waking up and suddenly he started pooping 3 times a day,but it was normal motion not watery once it continued for 10 days i took him to ped and he suggested v-flo,entergerminal for 5 days.He became alright and again after 2wks he had same problem ped then prescribed metronidazole, bifilac and on review meeting he followed up with ofloxcin+metronidazole with bifilac or darolac. And iam feeding idli in the morning, dal rice in noon, apple in the evening, rice with milk in the night and in between he has my feed. And now suddenly my son has got very loose watery motions green colour goes after every feed, took him to ped,son has lost half kg,doc adviced to continue same medication and same diet.(he had not gained wt after his 7th month visit,he was 8.2)
Friends did any of u face similar problems any suggestions or diet to arrest diarrhoe, improve the scenario??
Thanks

Hi Hema,

My son when he was 7 - 8 months had the same proble for almost 6 weeks. tried all anitbiotics and medicine. At last i gave his stool for samples and doc mentioned that he has severe bacteria and again he was anitbiotic.
My advice wld be pls check what all goes into his mouth, loose stools or diar starts when they crawl. pls check the bottles b4 sterlizing, and if u r storing hot water in thermos, ensure u sterlize it or follow the traditional method of storing in a container and heat it whenever required. my doc was against using microwaves - he only said use of technology is good, BUT what if after a decade and half they come back with a research saying that using microwaves (recent research says using over use of mobile phones can cause tumours) has caused this problem. so i have to heat anything, i steam it in a vessel.

Diet - i used to give rice and potato either sweet or normal one with ghee. Give ORS or eletrolyte as they loose a lot of electrolytes during this process and lot of water to go with. avoid milk to some extent, instead give more of solids, as lactose in the milk also wls cause the problem. Also check if you baby is lactose intolerace. you come to know in the stool test.
to sum it, my only advice wld be dont push to many antibiotics, kid has to develop its immunity to fight out on his own or system to forget to fight.
