Hetal replied. at 23mnths,his wght 9.5kgs,,with bw at 3.3kgs,,i was expecting to hear 11kgs,,9.5is less..but considering that your inlaws are on thinner side,,i will consider 10kgs,,which means that he is 500grams less,,can be achevd.
1.Encourage your child to drink 8 to 10 glasses(for child, glasses are 1/4-1/2filled with water at one serving, offer every 1-2hours,,1/4th adult glass or so...) of water and other fluids per day..
2. Vitamin C acidifies the urine, making the environment less friendly to bacteria...so offer more vit c/oranges/sweet lime/pineapple and such other citrus...will help in less UTI infections and improve kidney probs.
3. diet low in meat, fish, and poultry is recommended..these foods increase the level of uric acid in the urine...and will control UTI,,,often kids with hydronephrosis have recurrent UTIs...
instead of poultry, or seafoods..replace his diet with lots of sprouted lentils esp sprouted boiled whole moong,,,tofu and such other protein alternatives that are friendly in digestion..avoid channa, toor dal,, though,,its very heavy and is gasy..avoid ne foods that causes constipation,,stomach upsets, gas to your baby...
4. cheese, nuts are high in nutrional value and offerin them once(2-3almonds/nuts,1slice of cheese) every 3days is fine,,but if i were you, i will avoid.once a while in ne food serving is fine, but not like directly in milkshakes or raw..
cooking these foods often reduces their nutrional value and most of the times become easy in digestion.so you can offer them indirectly likewise.
often calcium diet is restricted alongwith high protein diet,,,,but in your case, your dr is not seeing the need,,,so i will not comment on it...your dr has diagnsd your case and has allowed you to offer these foods...i believe !
if you want to give him cheese or butter, offer alternatively ! like,,monday cheese than on wednesday, butter,,or nuts..give hard cheeses only.
give butter moderately,,instead offer sourcreme or fresh creme or soycreme or soy butter available in green or international markets,,,as a healthy alternative(moderately to the extent that you can apply one layer of it to toast or bread,,not more).,,offer oats, barley if wheat is not your baby prefrnces,,make rotis out of it and see if he accepts it ! oats are great for kidney probs.
keep your baby foods simple,,nutritious and include lots of fresh vegetables and fruits(offer greens moderately,.),,restrict on salt and medium spices/pepper,chillies or onion garlic,,,
comments his current diet :
i dont see ne excess amts in your baby diet,,,except for butter and cheese everyday,,, reduce his eggs/chicken if at all you are givin everyday,,,and yes i will recomnd you to avoid giving him ne nuts in his milkshake,,instead put some cardamom or ask your dr if your baby is ok to start with some other additivs/alternativess like nesquik, pediasure, horlicks or complans in his diet or milk servings..
so i feel quite comfortable with his intake..offer your baby diet full of fibr and lots of liquids..instead of proteins, calcium or fats...
comments on medication :
as to what i know,,,the patients on co-trimoxazole susp become sensitive to sun in longer run,,so avoid direct exposure when the heat of sun is at maxima..like noon or summers...
rest looks ok to me ! good luck ! monitor your baby bowels and check with your dr for ne other new foods you try...
