Sleeping:my baby cries when sleepy

Hi,
My 4 month old daughter is an extremely confused baby when it comes to her sleep. She cries terribly and rubs her eyes but simply cannot fall asleep until she is carried on my shoulder or rocked in my husband's arms.
Is this normal behaviour or is it something I should worry about?
Also though she sleeps for almost 8 hours at a stretch at night she has these short \";power\"; snoozes lasting around 15 mins in the daytime...is this a regular sleep pattern also?
Lastly, she just is unable to keep herself amused when she is awake..constantly needs someone to amuse her & keep talking to her...otherwise really creates a ruckus!!
Can someone help me with some \";do-able\"; suggestions?
Thanks

hi ashmani,
that's very normal with babies. they are fussy when they want to sleep. try putting ur baby to sleep in a peaceful room or put her in the crib and let her cry for a may be 5 mins. and then go back to her and pat her.
crying for a while wouldn't harm her at all. or either try feeding her .

i hope this helps
shweta

Sleep Problem due to itchy skin
My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. Could you please provide me with more ideas that can promote better sleep for her?... - Sanchari Tarafdar [View Message]

RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
