Sleeping:Playful, Smiling Baby Has Suddenly Become Quiet

Dear All,

My baby boy is 5 mths old & normally is a very cheerful .. always smiling child who doesnt cry much.

For past 1 week, my husband & I (staying alone in kenya) have noticed that he has becum very quiet, he doesnt play or laugh aloud anymore, his always ready smiles are also absent.
He had a mild cold & cough & we are giving him medicines for that but in the past even if he had a cough he was still cheerful .

I am very worried abt his sudden behaviour chnage. His solid eating too has undergone change. he is no longer eating his 3 solid meals a day happily & sometimes cries at evenings, exerts pressure on his feet & tries to move.

PLS ADVISE as to what can the matter be with him & what i can do to help. The qlty of peds here is terrible so no point of visiting docs.

Any one experienced something like this?

Thanks

Nidhi

Hi,
My baby is 5 months old. she used to be very cheerful and always babbled a lot between her 2nd-4th month. Than she became very quiet. My husband and I were concerned still we would play with her and talk to her as usual. Since past few days we have been noticing that she is screaming a lot and babbles too. We started giving her solid food once a day for past 2 weeks and she will turn 5 months on the 8th. So, don't be concern if your baby is not having 3 solid meals. As long as he is not crying or hungry.

I hope this helps.

may be he's teething or it's just a growth spurt. don't worry he'll certainly grow out of it.

My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
