it means she doesn not like the taste or she is simply trying to escape eating idly
Should I wait and try after some time
Pls advise me

could be :
1.flavour,,,if idly is dry many babbies dont like it,,as it sticks to their palate ! try offering with sambhar ! may be diff taste might be acceptable.
2.roasted..cut the pieces of idli, roast them abit,,they become abit chewable thn just like pwder in mouth,,may be she might accept it.
3.try making uttapam with the idli batter,,if that makes her eat it !
4. my dd gags idli,,to make her eat idli, i mix some flavours like minced/pureed coriander, and a lil sprinkle of idli pwder,,and she accepted it with sometimes jam, sambhar water,or sometimes just with ghee or amul butter...! see if your baby likes those flavours,,
5.at 7.5months,the only thing i see is things like idlis, dhoklas, or such steamed things stick to babies palate..offering them something that is good in flavours helps them eat better..milk and sugar is not a proper combination with idlis ! try sambhar/dal pani, or ne vegetable puree and see if she accepts it !
or else, try after sometimes,,its too early for babies to show their permanent likes and dislikes,,also if you are offering idlis or ne food on regular basis,,,just like us,,babies too get bored !! so offer varieties of idli,,if at all thats your main diet,,
there are so many options,,stuffed idlis, mix dal idlis,,mix vegetable idlis, roasted idlis,nd many others that i came accross in one of the recipe books,,when i was struggling to make my dd eat 1 piece of idli :)
hope this helps,,take care,,,recipes of ne of above you can easily get in ne good indian/south indian website//internet...
take care !

Hi Gita,
have you tried other solid foods and your baby is taking them properly ? If that is the case, then she may not be liking the taste of it. Try giving very small pieces mashed by fingers.

May be she is not liking the taste..ie,idly is salty and sugar and milk is sweet.so try it with plain sugar and ghee, she may like it.
